Ted Perry Fox 6 Milwaukee
Perry began his career at FOX6 in 1993, when the station was still affiliated with CBS. Since then, he has worked in various roles, covering a wide range of stories, from political events to unique Wisconsin experiences. Currently, Ted anchors FOX6 News at 5 and 10.
Ted recalled a childhood contest held by their hometown newspaper in Wilmette, Illinois. In 250 words or less, children were asked to write about what they liked about living there. However, Ted did not participate, believing his voice did not matter. When Perry later read the winning entry, he was surprised and unimpressed. He felt that the winner’s work was unoriginal and possibly not even his own. In his opinion, the child who won essentially did not earn the prize—a new bicycle.
Determined not to remain silent anymore, Perry took a more active role in journalism when his family moved to Baraboo, Wisconsin. Moreover, he joined—and even founded—the high school newspaper.
Later, at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Ted pursued journalism and wrote for one of the two student newspapers. Eventually, he transitioned to television reporting, humorously noting that spelling was no longer a major concern. Perry expressed a deep appreciation for working with the FOX6 photojournalism team, whom he regarded as the best in the industry.
As for the bike Ted once longed for, he eventually bought one himself—a 2003 Harley-Davidson Softail—which he considered the perfect way to explore Wisconsin. Further, Perry joked that he would wave at fellow riders unless it happened to be the child who won the contest in 1976, playfully suggesting that the bike had been undeserved.
Ted Perry Retirement/Suspended
After expressing on Facebook that he wished Mitch McConnell had died rather than Alex Trebek, Perry lost his job. Even if he had removed the message, the damage had already been done. In addition, Perry deleted his Twitter and Facebook accounts. He later apologized on his Facebook page for his previous comment, saying it was disrespectful and that he was not speaking for his employer. It is unknown when he will be able to resume work after his ban.
