Kraemer was chosen by his Franklin, Pennsylvania, sixth-grade classroom to “anchor” their daily newscasts. He was thrilled to be popular at the playground at the time, but he soon recognized that this would be his future career. Since then, Sam has grown to love the accountability and pursuit of truth that come with journalism, and he is thrilled to carry on with that work at FOX6, the station his family grew up watching.
Sam became aware of life outside of the Midwest on his return trip to Wisconsin. He started his career as a General Assignment Reporter at KNBN-TV in Rapid City, South Dakota, in 2016 after earning a professional journalism degree from the University of Minnesota (Ski U Mah!).
He later advanced to the positions of Weekend Anchor/Reporter and Main Anchor. Kraemer was granted special access to the fire lines during some of the most destructive flames in the state since he was among the first reporters to enroll in wildland firefighter training when he was there. Sam’s findings included a thorough examination of crimes, the expansion of South Dakota’s historic towns, and other topics.
From there, in 2018, he started working as a reporter and fill-in anchor for KOAA-TV in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Living and working at the foot of Pikes Peak in that state was amazing.
In addition, Kraemer covered every aspect of the Kelsey Berreth case for a full year, covering everything from the missing person complaint to the arrests and the public murder trial. Dateline aired an episode featuring his work on the case.
