He previously worked as a co-anchor for weekend editions for FOX 8 News and is currently an ordained minister of Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church. Wayne also worked as a reporter and an anchor for WNIR Radio in Kent, Ohio before joining the network in 1981.
Dawson is an eight-time regional flange final Emmy Award winner and he is also a member of the National Association of African American Journalists, the NAACP, and the Phi Beta Sigma fraternity. Wayne was inducted into the Broadcasters Hall of Fame in 2000.
