Rob became captivated by the weather when he observed a change in the wind in a farmer’s field far, far away, a long, long time ago. You might wonder, why? (As you ask “Why?” pause.) That’s when he discovered he was growing up on a turkey farm, and he was downwind of the manure mound! He then kept a close eye on the weather in an attempt to preserve his sense of smell!
Well, that’s not accurate, but Haswell did grow up on a turkey farm and has long had a fascination with the weather and broadcasting.
Before transitioning to television, Rob worked in radio. He first appeared on “Good Morning Toronto” on Canada’s Weather Network.
Rob decided to follow his ambition of moving to the United States and working there after that, joining Wake Up Rochester in Rochester, New York. Additionally, Rob tried his hand at being a successful comedic actor for a while and studied improvisation under instructors like Joe Flaherty of SCTV at Toronto’s Second City Theatre!
