Paul Solman is an Emmy-award-winning American journalist, anchor, correspondent, and reporter who has specialized in economics, business, and politics since 1970. Moreover, since 1985, he has been the economic and business correspondent for the PBS NewsHour and often forays into art reporting. Additionally, Solman began his career in business journalism as a Nieman Fellow. Moreover, he was the founding editor of the alternative Boston weekly, The Real Paper in 1972 and also tutored at the Harvard Business School beginning 1985 to 1987. Paul also taught economics at Gateway Community College in New Haven, Connecticut, and was Visiting Fellow at Mansfield College, Oxford University.

In an explanation of who owns credit cards, Paul explained that the company has been publicly held since 2008 when its stock was sold in the largest Initial Public Offering in the record. Further explained that it happened after having been in the ownership of thousands of institutions, mainly banks.
Nevertheless, Solman shared the question with Chris Whalen, a bank analyst who revealed that card issuers own the brand and the payment network. Further saying that the card accounts are in most cases owned by banks, who stretch the credit and take ownership of the relationship. Therefore, if many cardholders default, the banks would incur a lot of harm prior to the credit card companies.
