Jennie Kwan is a Filipino-American television, film, and voice actress who is famously known for her role as Samantha “Sam” Woo on California Dreams, Satoko Hojo in Higurashi When They Cry, and also voiced Suki, a character on Avatar: The Last Airbender. She began her acting career at age 11 when she started performing with a touring company. Additionally, she began her first television role as the voice of Audrey in Little Shop in 1991 which is a series based on the 1986 film Little Shop of Horrors.
Jennie is the most notable for portraying the character Samantha Woo on NBC’s hit show California Dreams and she auditioned for the lead role as Tiffani but lost to Kelly Pickford thus making them become best friends in 1992. Moreover, Kwan appeared in an episode of Beverly Hills, 90210 in 1992, and the following year she began performing the role of Kim in Chicago’s production of Miss Saigon.
Later that year the producers of California Dreams called her to join the main cast. She played Sam who is a foreign exchange student replacing Heidi Noelle Lenhart and she starred in the Las Vegas original cast of the musical Avenue Q and spent time starring in the national tour as an understudy for the role of Christmas Eve.
