Jeff Fager is an American journalist, producer, former chairman of CBS News, and former executive producer of 60 Minutes who joined the network in 1982 in San Francisco, California. He was executive producer of the CBS Evening News from 1996 to 1998 and held senior and field producer positions for that and other CBS News programs.
Furthermore, Fager left the Evening News in 1998 to become the first executive producer of 60 Minutes II where he later assumed the position in June 2004. In February 2011, CBS News announced that he would lead the news division of CBS as chairman of CBS News which was a newly created position.
Moreover, he stepped down as chairman on January 1, 2015, though he continued in his executive producer role of 60 Minutes and David Rhodes continued to serve as President of the CBS News Division. On September 12, 2018, a fellow reporter exposed threatening texts she received from the former executive producer of 60 Minutes thus being fired by the network.
In the same year, nineteen current and former CBS employees told The New Yorker that Fager allowed harassment in the news division and that he touched the employees in ways that made them uncomfortable. Before that, Jeff received a Gerald Loeb Award for Television Enterprise business journalism for “The Mother of All Heists” in 2007 and later received a Paul White Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association.
