In addition, Haertl is a living legend in Kansas media and a 33-year veteran of the sports television profession. After entering the world of sports media at KFH-Wichita, he spent the majority of his career in Wichita at KWCH. As a play-by-play announcer, Bruce worked for ESPN, the Missouri Valley Conference Network, COX, FOX, Sooner Sports TV (University of Oklahoma TV Network), and the Oral Roberts Basketball Network, calling collegiate basketball, baseball, and softball games.
He spent 15 seasons as the television voice of Wichita State basketball and baseball and worked on the Kansas State Football Radio Network for 10 years. Additionally, Bruce broke into the television industry as Sports Director at KWCH in Wichita in October of 1984 where he covered three World Series, seven College World Series, seven Final Fours, 24 NCAA Tournaments, and 19 bowl games.
