Ian Leslie is an Australian journalist, general assignment correspondent, and corporate communicator who was born in Indonesia. He started out as a cadet journalist in Toowoomba in 1962 and worked his way up to News Editor of the local daily. As a senior reporter for the Ten Network, Leslie traveled to Sydney in 1972. In 1977, he moved to the Nine Network to join A Current Affair.
Furthermore, he served on the original reporting team with Ray Martin and George Negus when the Australian edition of 60 Minutes was launched on the Nine Network in 1979. Moreover, he stayed in that role for the next 11 years until 1989. Ian will be remembered most for his compassionate reporting, especially where children were involved, and for his unwavering commitment to exposing suffering in Australia and in developing countries.
