Prior to joining FOX23, Maranon served as a multimedia journalist and weekend evening weather anchor at KVAL-TV in Eugene, Oregon. While there, he started in the KCBY Coos Bay bureau and was moved up to the main newsroom in Eugene after one year, and forecasted weather for the 5, 6, and 11 PM shows.
Rick began his journalism career as a weekend morning producer at Griffin Communications, KWTV News in Oklahoma, and produced at 4, 5, and 6 PM newscasts. He was able to get the attention of President Donald Trump on the tarmac at Tulsa International Airport next to Air Force One when he yelled questions at the President and got a wave, a smile, and a thumbs up.
